Written from the perspective of a struggling businessman about to lose his business, this business fable is coupled with the advice and guidance he receives from a very “unusual” source. Although perhaps too late to save the business, his “mentor” shows him how and why his actions over many years resulted in the current situation. Through 7 fundamental behavior changes, sort of a “DNA of Business Success”, the executive learns to think very differently about his business and his life. The book tells the story with a candid account of the owner’s pain woven with actual examples of how some of his “customers” suffered the same fate after years of business experience. The central theme is that people believe that smart people (themselves included) won’t fail; but they do. The author’s powerful insights, as told through the voice of the fictional “mentor”, show you how to turn killer behaviors and weaknesses into strengths. The lessons learned are clear with stories supporting them. Using the 7 principles as action items you can put to use even before you finish reading the book, you learn how to bypass personality issues that lead to mistakes, errors in judgment and poor results. Discover the alignment needed to become a better CEO, leader, manager, or employee and how to become a better person. The book feels good to read, not just once, but to keep as a reference and use as an inspirational resource to remember changes you want to make and why.

Having worked with many successful entrepreneurial firms over the years, I have seen how the steps in the CHOICES acronym apply. For example, the first C stands for Challenge Assumptions. Several of these firms blazed new trails by challenging conventional industry assumptions. At the flip side, I have seen other firms fall far short of what they could become. The E stands for Eliminating the Ego. Some dominating bosses couldn't put their egos on the shelf and as a result, their businesses hit a wall, driving talented people away. Written in an engaging fable style, Norris Beren outlines 7 key ways to focus the lens through which you see your venture.Product details

Why Do Smart People Fail? 7 Guidelines for CEOsand Future Leaders Mr Norris L Beren 9780984527762 Books Reviews
Why Do Smart People Fail? or If we can only get over ourselves.
An easy read book that addresses the thought process through the use of the acronym “Choices”
While I wasn’t sure of what to expect I was pleasantly surprised. This book offers a common sense approach in addressing the thought process of why and how we as individuals choose to avoid a much deeper sense of analysis in making decisions.
This book addresses the “ID” within us.
A great read for even the brightest people. It offers an honest and self-reflecting thought process that revisits the value of knowing ourselves and our individual personalities may get in our way when addressing business and personal situations.
